Recently, before my daughter goes to her school in the morning, my daughter and I go fishing at Iwaguruma harbor and afterward pick up vegetables mainly tomatoes. Well, only if she gets up early enough.
We have the ocean as a huge “swimming pool” and mountain as a “vegetable garden.” In addition, in the beginning of the spring season, wild mountain vegetables are all over.
We are so fortunate to have this beautiful, natural, and “self-sufficient” environment so closely.
The ocean is not actually in our BACKYARD! But since not so many people are around, it makes you feel that everything around you in this village is in OUR BACKYARD!!!
Where is this Iwaguruma in Anamizu Town?
Anamizu is a town by the Gulf of Nanao and on Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture which is located on Sea of Japan coast and its prefecture’s most of northern part is Noto Peninsula. Anamizu is the “entrance” of peninsula’s tip.
Iwaguruma in Anamizu Town is a village of fisherman and farmers. It is surrounded by very low mountains and the sea which is very calm and quiet most of the season like a lake because it is surrounded by islands
Ishikawa is part of the Hokuriku region. Hokuriku is located in the northwestern region on Honshu (the main island of Japan) and lies along the Sea of Japan. Hokuriku region covers four prefectures, Ishikawa, Fukui, Niigata, and Toyama.
