On September 6, at the US Embassy in Tokyo, Ikuo Anazawa san, a professional paper craft artist from Fukushima Prefecture, provided a handmade paper craft Bald Eagle, which is the national emblem of the US, as a thank you gift to the US for the speedy initial support over the Great East Japan Earthquake and Disaster of March 11.
Fukushima Prefecture is one of the major disaster areas. Its prefecture is still suffering from radioactive contamination.
Approximately 70,000 people are currently (as of September 7, 2011) living in evacuation centers.
